Artist in Residence Isabelle ProustThe true fresco is a method of mural painting in which the artist applies the colors (dry pigments in a lime wash) on the wet intonaco (painting plaster layer) as soon as it has been prepared and laid on the wall or ceiling. When it dries and hardens, the colors become one with the plaster through a chemical reaction in which calcium carbonate is formed as a result of carbon dioxide from the air combining with the calcium hydrate on the wet plaster. Please feel free to stop by at any time during regular business hours to view this collection of amazing art. |
